Philodendron are very easy to grow tropical plants that require little care indoors or out. Like other aroids, many species of Philodendron can be grown as houseplants, or outdoors in mild climates. They thrive in moist soils with high organic matter and grow best when provided with a mossy post or burlap wrapped pole to climb. Philodendron plants can be grown in pots, hanging baskets or outdoors as a ground cover or beautiful tree wrap.
Philodendron Caramel Marble Highly Variegated Top Cutting Indoors plants thrive at temperatures between 65°-90°F and in lower light conditions than other house plants. In the ground or up an arbor, Philodendrons get big and are often unrecognizable from their potted juvenile state. They add a wonderfully tropical accent to any well-lit space or cascading from your favorite hanging planter. Plant care tips
1. This variety of Philodendron is known for its unique marbling and colors, and can bring an elegant look to any office or home space. 2. When ordering live plants online, remember that they may require additional care once they reach you—make sure you know what care instructions are included in order to provide your new addition with optimum conditions! 3. Grow philodendrons in bright, indirect light; direct sunlight will burn their leaves. 4. Water as needed—philodendrons love water but don’t like having it sitting on their roots—and be sure to use well-draining soil at all times! 5.
Does it need special light, water, or temperature requirements?
The Philodendron Caramel Marble requires similar care to that of most other houseplants. Though, its broad range means it can tolerate slightly more shade than most other species. It will do best with medium-to-high light, humid conditions and well-drained soil. If you’re looking for something that thrives in low light conditions and needs less maintenance, consider checking out Hederas or Chinese Evergreen as alternatives. Most people can enjoy their plant as is, but don’t be afraid to experiment and find what works best in your own home. No two locations are exactly alike, so do some research on growing conditions before deciding whether or not it’s right for you.
Will it get too tall/ wide/ leggy over time?
While your Philodendron Caramel Marble Highly Variegated Top Cutting will likely reach up to 5 feet tall with stems that are about an inch in diameter, it will grow at a moderate pace. This is important because too-fast growth can cause issues with certain diseases or pests. Some varieties of pothos, like Heartleaf Pothos, have particularly fast growth rates and are not recommended if you’re looking for something truly low maintenance. If you’ve got some space, however, no problems here—the more space they have, the happier they’ll be (and vice versa). 🙂
How much maintenance does it require on a daily/ weekly basis (trimming leaves)
Just like most plants, you’ll want to prune back any brown or yellow leaves regularly. To avoid yellowing in your plant’s future, make sure its soil is healthy (moist but not soaking wet) and make sure it’s getting enough sunlight. Other than that, trimming leaves is about all you need to do in terms of daily maintenance. The few times per year when new growth emerges from its thick trunk, you can cut off dead wood around its base with a sharp pair of scissors. On average, you should only have to invest about 10 minutes per week in maintaining your philodendron—quite a low time investment for such an eye-catching piece!
